David “Dave” Sandell Sr.

<p>David “Dave” H. Sandell, Sr. passed away on Sunday, September 15th surrounded by his loving family. He was born to Paul and Mildred Sandell on August 23, 1929 in Grafton, North Dakota. Dave grew up on his family’s farm near Gilby and graduated from Gilby High School in 1947. Dave married Donna Mae Von Rueden on October 23. 1954. They were married 42 years until she passed away in 1997. He farmed until semi-retirement in 1982.</p> <p>Dave was active in his community. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, where he taught Sunday school and served on the Church Board. He served on the board of Agassiz Water Users from 1971 to 1999, serving as vice-president. He also held the office of president with the North Dakota Rural Water Association in 1988-1989. </p> <p>Dave was athletic in his youth playing high school basketball and baseball. Dave enjoyed exploring the country visiting friends and relatives in his RV; going to Fox Lake in Bemidji; woodworking; playing golf and pinochle. He loved watching the Twins and Vikings. He had a kind smile, quick wit and always generous to those around him. He was happiest spending time with his family. Family meant everything to him. </p> <p>Dave is survived by his daughters, Debra Ann Pollard and Diane Marie Peterson (Boyd); granddaughter Rachel and great granddaughter Autumn; and Keith Kalal. He is preceded in death by his wife, Donna; son David Jr; brothers Charles and Ormond, sisters Bonnie and Rena and his parents. </p> <p>The family wishes to express gratitude to Fairview Hospice and September Cottages Eldercare in Scandia, MN for his final care. </p> <p>Visitation will be held Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 4 to 6 p.m. with a prayer service at 6 p.m. at Amundson Funeral Home. Visitation will continue 1 hour prior to the start of the service at the church. </p> <p>Memorial service will be held Monday, September 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Honeyford, ND. </p> <p> In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery Association and Chisago Lakes Fairview Home Care and Hospice. </p> <p>An online register book may be signed at </p>
