Darlyne I. Martin

Darlyne I. Martin, 94 of East Grand Forks passed away Tuesday, March 23, 2021, surrounded by her family in the same home for where she lived for 68 years and raised nine children.

Darlyne Ione Montgomery was born March 18, 1927 in Laurel, NE to the late David Montgomery and Hattie (Miller) Montgomery. During the great depression, when Darlyne was five, her mother sold their milk cow to purchase a car to move the family to Manvel, ND. She graduated from Grand Forks Central high school in 1945. On June 30, 1947, Darlyne married William Martin at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church in Grand Forks. Darlyne received Jesus Christ as her Savior and shared the love of Jesus - One of her life mottos was to look for the good in others. She retired from United Hospital in 1993 after working as the front desk Information Clerk/Switchboard Operator for 15 years. Darlyne volunteered for two years as a foster grandparent at River Heights Elementary School in East Grand Forks, MN. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and crocheting afghans for family and friends.

Survivors include her children Barbara Fontaine of Grand Forks, ND, Paul (Ann) Martin of Brown Deer, WI, David Martin of East Grand Forks, MN, Nancy (Mark) Gallivan of Boise, ID, Kathy Lacey of East Grand Forks, MN. Janice (Bart) Schlaeppi of Charleston, SC; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband William in 1986; sons, Bradley, Todd and Richard Martin; grandson Jesse Martin and son-in-law Dennis Fontaine.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Circle of Friends Humane Society.

Memorial Service: 11:30 AM, Monday, May 10, 2021 at Hope Covenant Church, 1601 17th Ave. S. Grand Forks, ND 58201.

Visitation: 1 Hour Prior to Memorial Service at Hope Covenant Church.

Inurnment: Calvary Cemetery ~ Grand Forks, ND.
