Clifford “Kip” McCoy, Jr.

Clifford Dale McCoy Jr. “Kip”, of Logan Center, ND passed away at Luther Memorial Home in Mayville, ND on December 31st 2020.

Kip was born in Northwood, ND on April 12, 1940 to Clifford and Myrtle (Anderson) McCoy, was baptized at the rural Bethel Church of Moraine Township and confirmed at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Larimore, ND. He grew up in Logan Center and graduated from Logan Center High School in 1958. Kip entered the US Army on December 2, 1959 and was Honorably Discharged on March 1st 1962. It was after returning from the service that Kip started farming. He married Rosemary Fischer on June 22nd, 1968 at St. Alphonsus Church in Langdon, ND.

Kip served on the ASC Board (FSA) for 30 years and also served on Our Savior’s Lutheran Church council, Logan Center Township board, and the Larimore Good Samaritan Nursing Home board. He received his 50 Year Certificate from the American Legion Post 97 in 2018.

Kip enjoyed woodworking, sports, hunting and playing cards, but his true passions can be summarized by three “F” words. Farming, Faith and Family. Farming not only provided a financial way of life, it provided a way of living his life. Never the easiest way to make a living, Kip would never have traded working the land for any other job. Faith was extremely important to him and provided him direction in life. Kip would never miss a Sunday Service and it was important to him to dress in his best clothes when entering any Church. Family was the most important thing in Kip’s life. Whether it was attending grandchildren’s events, getting together on holidays, vacations, simple visits on weekends or family reunions, Kip was always happiest when he was with his family. The pride and happiness he felt often made him teary eyed when watching his grandchildren and children at gatherings. Another passion of Kip’s was to tease or give people a hard time. These actions were truly a sign of affection and anyone that experience it, please know that Kip really liked and cared about you.

Kip was preceded in death by his parents and sister Mary.

Kip is survived by his wife Rosie, daughter Melissa Haahr, son Mitchell (Amy) McCoy, grandchildren Neil (Austin) Wittmier, Ryan Haahr, Lane McCoy and Destiny McCoy, Sisters Maxine (Ross) Njaa and Mona (Larry) Marchus, special loved one, Jenna Windjue, (Trouble 2). Many nieces, nephews and in-laws, and last but certainly not least “his” dog Cooper (It’s really Mitch and Amy’s).

A private family funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at 1:00 pm, at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Larimore, ND. Interment will be at Bellevue Cemetery, Larimore.

Military Honors will be provided by the Ted Valerius Post 97 and the North Dakota National Guard Honor Team.
