Adelaide Dvorak

Adelaide Christina Misialek Rudnik Dvorak passed away peacefully at the age of 103 on Saturday, August 31, 2019 at the Lutheran Sunset Home of Grafton, ND. Adelaide was born to Matt and Christina (Passa) Misialek on May 28, 1916 on the Misialek Homestead near Grafton. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She attended country school through the 8th grade. On October 29, 1935 she married Steven Rudnik. The couple farmed the Misialek homestead and eventually moved into Grafton. Four children were born to this union, Angeline, Shirley, Diane and Steve. Steven passed away on March 4, 1970. Adelaide married Henry Dvorak on October 17, 1975. The couple lived in Grafton and he passed away on January 24, 2000. Adelaide was a wonderful cook and baker. She made many doughnuts and apple pies. She worked at People’s Bakery, DX Coffee Shop, Nelson Rexall Drug, the Turkey plant and on numerous falls on the potato harvester. She finished her working career after many years at the Developmental Center. Her hobbies included dancing, playing solitaire and cutting articles from the newspaper, but most of all, cooking dinners for her son and grandchildren. She always looked forward to and enjoyed visits and letters from family. She is survived by her children: Angeline Berger, Emerado, ND; Shirley Bruers, Baxter, MN; Diane Cox, Grand Forks, ND; Steve (Mary) Rudnik, Grafton, ND; nine grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, seven sisters, one brother, son-in-laws: Orlin Berger, Bill Bruers and George Cox and great grandson, Corey Shields. Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, September 6, 2019 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Grafton, ND. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8 PM at the Tollefson Funeral home of Grafton with a rosary service at 8:00 PM. Friends may also call at the church on Friday for one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at St. John’s Catholic Cemetery, Grafton, ND.
