John H. Halverson, Jr., 64, Grand Forks, ND was lifted up to Heaven by our Lord on Saturday, April 20, 2019, at Aneta Parkview Health Center, Aneta, ND, where he was recovering from an illness.
John Henry Halverson Jr. was born on May 19, 1954 in Grand Forks, ND, the beloved son of John and Mary (Jeffrey) Halverson. He was raised in Grand Forks and graduated from Red River High School. John attended the University of North Dakota for two years in the early 1970's and was a proud member of the Fighting Sioux Hockey Team.
Following college, John joined the family business of Poppler's Music Store, working in retail. Over the years, he became one of the owner/operators of the business. He was also a talented musician and played in the Elk's Band, the Grand Forks City Band, and the Second Wind Band.
He will be remembered by his kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Rest in peace, "Duke". You are loved and will be dearly missed.
John is survived by his loving sister, Joyce Halverson Kaier and brother-in-law, Jeffrey Kaier; many friends; relatives and his calico cat, Baby.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mass of Christian Burial: 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 26, 2019 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Grand Forks, ND.
Visitation: One hour prior to the liturgy at the church on Friday.
Burial: Memorial Park North Cemetery, Grand Forks, ND.
