Thomas Hove Stevens

Thomas Hove Stevens, 83, of Rochester, MN, died in his home March 8, 2019, surrounded by family. He was born May 2, 1935, at Wallum Hospital in Lakota, ND, to George and Blanche Stevens. He was raised in Edmore, ND, and graduated from Oak Grove High School in Fargo, ND, and Concordia College in Moorhead, MN. He served in the U.S. Army and then earned a Masters of Social Work from the University of Nebraska. Tom married Judith (Judy) Utke in 1965 and lived in Moorhead and then in Casselton, ND, where they raised their two sons. Tom worked at the Village Family Service Center in Fargo, ND, as a marriage and family therapist. Upon retirement, Tom drove a Head Start school bus, which he enjoyed immensely. He also enjoyed fishing and grilling at Big Mantrap Lake near Emmaville, MN. As Tom's health declined, he and his wife moved to Rochester, MN, to be closer to the Mayo Clinic. Tom was preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Shirley Stevens, and is survived by his wife, brother Richard Stevens, sons Eric (De Anne) Stevens and Michael (Tranette) Stevens, and grandsons Jacob, Seth, and Daniel Stevens. Tom donated his body to the Mayo Clinic Bequest Program to support medical education. A gathering will be arranged at a later date.
