Patricia J. "Pat"
Patricia (Pat) Silewski, age 83 of Grafton, ND, passed away unexpectedly and heartbreakingly on the afternoon of March 12, 2019 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND, in the company of her family.
Patricia (Kalbrener) Silewski was born April 26, 1935 in Moorhead, MN the daughter of James and Mildred Kalbrener. She grew up in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School with the class of 1953. After her graduation she held several long-term bookkeeping positions within Walsh County Bank, Ringsak Webb and Rice, and Brodeur Construction. Following a long courtship, as the legend tells, Pat was united in marriage with Chester Silewski on April 14, 1956 at St. John's Catholic Church in Grafton.
The year 1983 marked the catalyst of many joyful years as Pat and Chet purchased a string of small cabins in the Bemidji, MN area. From that year on, she cherished many memories including family luaus, yard golf tournaments, cookouts, cabin expansions, lake cruises on the pontoon, fireworks on the Fourth of Julybut most of all, the gift of bringing her entire family together for many laughs and so much love. The cabins will forever live on as "Pats Paradise" and "Chets Hideaway."
Pat is survived by her children: Mary (Larry Petty) Reid, Pensacola, FL, David (Laurie) Silewski, Valley City, ND, Mike (Karmen) Silewski, Andover, MN and Joan Warnke, Grand Forks, ND; her grandchildren Sonny (Vanioni) Reid, Suva, Fiji, Ron (Anna) Reid, Tallahassee, FL, Melissa (Dallas) Davidson, Fargo, ND, Chris (Ingrid) Silewski, Eau Claire, WI, Holly (Matthew) Osborn, Fargo, ND, Brittney (Eric) Hanson, Duluth, MN, Adam (Greta) Silewski, Grand Forks, ND, Erika (Jeff) Bell, Pensacola, FL, Miranda (Joe Baggs) Silewski, Vandenberg, CA, Derek (Phoebe Francis) Silewski, Grafton, ND, Jared Silewski, Blaine, MN, Kevin Warnke, Fargo, ND, Jason (Katherine O'Malley) Warnke, Grand Forks, ND, Becca Warnke, Grand Forks, ND, Keenan Silewski, Andover, MN, and Joseph Silewski, Andover, MN; 21 great-grandchildren whose company brought her so much joy. Her brother Mike (Bonnie) Kalbrener, sisters-in-law Theresa Kalbrener, Joyce (Mike) Gierszewski, Irene Lindgren and many extended family members whom she loved.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Chester Silewski; son, John Silewski; sister, Marilyn Kalbrener; brother Jim Kalbrener; brother in law Steve Silewski Jr.; and mother and father.
VISITATION will be held on Sunday, March 17, 2019 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Tollefson Funeral Home, 154 West 12th Street, in Grafton. A prayer service will be held that evening at 7:00 PM.
FUNERAL services will be held on Monday, March 18, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 334 W 15th Street, in Grafton. Interment will be at St. John's Catholic Cemetery in the spring.
