Margaret S. Landry
Margaret S. Landry, 67, of Grand Forks, ND passed away Monday, January 7, 2019 at her home in Grand Forks.
Margaret Susan Landry was born February 11, 1951 in Langdon, ND the daughter of Jack and Dorothy (Royce) Landry. She was the proud granddaughter of pioneer doctor, Louis Landry and pioneer midwife, Ida (Campbell) Landry. She was raised in Walhalla, ND and graduated from Walhalla High School in 1969. She obtained her Bachelor and Master degrees in Languages from the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks. She went on to obtain a Master of Acupuncture degree (Summa Cum Laude) from Northwestern Health Sciences University and was a Diplomate of Acupuncture and a Licensed Acupuncturist. Margaret owned and operated Dancing Dragon Acupuncture and Wellness in Grand Forks.
Margaret was a lifelong learner, passionate advocate for women and anyone in need of help, a kind and adventurous spirit who liked to challenge the norm and create a better world. She was awarded a Black Belt in Aikido, taught women's self-defense and was instrumental in establishing the Impact Program in self-defense in Minneapolis and with the Women's Center at the University of North Dakota. She was a member of P.E.O., Thursday Music Club and past member and served on the Board of Directors of the Grand Forks Community Choral. Margaret's faith and her church family were foremost in her life. She was an active and dedicated member of First Presbyterian Church and Choir and was awaiting her ordination as a Deacon of the church. She enjoyed attending artistic and cultural events with her friend, Glenna Leedahl. She is survived by her sister, Kay (Don) Harkcom, Hudson, WI; her brother, Robert (Julia) Landry, Eagan, MN; her nieces and nephews, Jennifer Bevars, Lisa (Andy) Robertson, Robert (Erin Barnes) Bevars, Nicole (Bobby) Auge, Charles Landry, Patrick Landry; her close friend, Glenna (Mrs. Jack) Leedahl and her beloved cats, Tian Meow and Perpetua Meow-Shing.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church in Grand Forks, ND.
Memorial Services: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 19, 2019 in University Baptist Church 1219 University Avenue SE, Minneapolis, MN.
Memorial Service: 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 26, 2019 in First Presbyterian Church 5555 South Washington Street, Grand Forks, ND.
Family Greeting: One hour prior to the service in First Presbyterian Church on Saturday.
