Andrew was born May 15th, 1990 in Maplewood, MN, the son of Michael and Orlayne (Dunham) Held. He attended grade school in Grand Forks and graduated with his GED from the Adult Education Center in Grand Forks in 2008. Following his graduation, he was trained and worked as a phlebotomist at Pracs in EGF, MN and Fargo, ND. He later worked at Amazon in Grand Forks as a customer service representative. He was currently employed at Biolife in Fargo.

Although Andrew struggled with health issues, he lived life to its fullest; spending time with his many good friends and family, especially his beloved niece and nephew, performing in shows, and volunteering his time for community events. He also enjoyed drawing superheroes; his favorite was Wonder Woman. In his younger days, he spent a week each summer at Camp Chimer near Kansas City, MO with children who also had kidney failure. After he reached adulthood, Andrew returned to Camp Chimer as a camp counselor. Andrew was very fortunate to receive a kidney from his dad, Michael, in 1992 and from his uncle, Bradly, in 2005 that would improve his health for quite a few years. He started dialysis in 2013 when his second kidney transplant failed.

Andrew had three very special doctors that cared for him over the years. Dr. Bradley Warady, pediatric nephrologist at Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City, MO, Dr. Eric Lunn, pediatrician at Altru Health System in Grand Forks, ND, and Dr. Khaled Rabadi, nephrologist at The Kidney and Hypertension Center in Grand Forks, ND. There were many other doctors and wonderful nurses that took excellent care of Andrew over the years that are too numerous to mention.

Throughout his short life, Andrew made many special friends which he considered family, including his roommate, who cared for and helped him.

He is survived by his parents, Michael and Orlayne, brother Alec, Manvel ND, sister Samantha (Aaron) Johnson, niece and nephew, Eva and August, Grand Forks ND, maternal grandmother Edie Dunham, aunts and uncles, Brigit Pigeon, Eric (Joan) Dunham, Sheri (Craig) Leas, and Bradly (Nikki Johnson) Held, as well as several cousins.

He was preceded in death by grandparents, Margie and Eldon Held, and Orlando Dunham.
