Isaac John Cramer of Bismarck, ND went to be with Jesus on March 22, 2018 while hospitalized at the Mayo Clinic Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN at the age of 35.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018 at 12:30 pm at New Song Church, 3200 N. 11th Street in Bismarck. All are welcome to attend. The service will be livestreamed on New Song Church's Face Book page @newsongbismarck .
Isaac, who was called Ike by his friends and family, was born on May 20, 1982 in Grand Forks, ND to Kris and Craig Koester. Kris married Kevin Cramer in 1986 and Kevin adopted Ike on December 6, 1993.
Ike attended elementary school at Roosevelt, Miller and Northridge Schools in Bismarck and Centennial in Fargo. He attended Hughes Junior High and graduated from Century High School in Bismarck in 2001. He attended Montana State University and Bismarck State College.
Ike had many friends from school who remained close to him the rest of his life. Ike seemed to be able to be a friend to everyone and anyone. He had a gentle spirit and an open heart and always had time to listen to people. He encouraged many people with his words and contagious smile.
Ike enjoyed snowboarding, golfing and fishing, especially if he could do it with friends and family. He liked hanging out on the Missouri River in the summer.
On his 25th birthday in 2007, Ike brought a new girlfriend, Jessica, and her baby son Abel home to meet his family. For the next several months, our family looked forward to every opportunity to see Abel. Ike and Jess would come to Church and we'd all take turns holding Abel. On some weekends, Abel would stay overnight with us, and at one point spent an entire month in our home. Jess and Ike broke up late that year and we lost track of Abel for a time.
Jessica tragically died in March of 2010, and Abel was placed in a foster home. Kris and Kevin made themselves available as potential permanent guardians and eventually adopted him. The gift of Abel to the Cramers and the Cramers to Abel is Ike's greatest legacy.
Besides his brother Abel and parents, Ike is survived by another brother, Ian Cramer, sisters Annie Senne (Nick), Rachel Wegner (Cale), Grandmothers Janet Neumann, Clarice Cramer and Judith Koester, nephews Beau, Chet and Nico and niece Lyla and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Emerson Neumann, Richard Cramer and Vernon Koester and of course, Abel's mom, Jessica.
There will be a time of sharing stories about Ike after the Celebration Service as we all break bread together. Burial will take place later this spring in Bisbee, ND. Memorials can be made to New Song Church for Celebrate Recovery Ministry.
