Red River Valley could see snow next week

The Grand Forks region is forecast to cool down next week—and the lower temperatures could mean a quick return to winter precipitation.

That's right, snow is possible Wednesday and Thursday, according to the National Weather Service.

"It is still very uncertain," said National Weather Service Meteorologist Jim Kaiser. "It is very normal to have that potential in the middle of April in North Dakota and northwest Minnesota."

Temperatures in the 50s are expected this weekend before things cool down, Kaiser said.

"The weather system, it could be up here and bring us a chance of snow, or it could be down south in Nebraska and bring rain down there," Kaiser said. "This system could be 300, 400 miles south of here or it could be right on top of us."

Kaiser said the area has been relatively dry for the past couple of weeks, but this weekend the region will see rain showers.

Temperatures on Sunday and Monday will be in the mid 40s, Kaiser said.

"Just typical spring weather," Kaiser said.
