THE FOCUS

Colorado College announced Thursday afternoon that forward Nick Halloran is out for the year with a lower-body injury. That will place even more focus on standout senior center Mason Bergh, who has been a primary driver of the Tiger offense for the last three years (89 career points). Bergh, of Eden Prairie, Minn., has 12 points in 20 games this season. The Tigers have only lost three of the 10 games he's tallied a point. They're 3-7 when he does not.

THE PICK

UND has had trouble scoring against even struggling goaltenders this season. So, it doesn't seem like a great recipe for success to go against a goalie like Alex Leclerc, who has had UND's number multiple times in recent years. The offensive challenges could be magnified if Grant Mismash is unable to go. A desperate UND team should be able to get one at home, but a sweep would be a tall task.

Colorado College 3-1, UND 2-1

NOTES

**** Former UND goalie Cam Johnson was called up to the NHL for the first time this week by the New Jersey Devils. Johnson backed up starter Keith Kinkaid in Tuesday's loss to the Buffalo Sabres and Thursday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs. Johnson has played for both the Binghamton Devils of the American Hockey League and the Adirondack Thunder of the ECHL this season.

**** Former Grand Forks Red River players Dane Montgomery and Mason Salquist have been called up to play in the United States Hockey League for the rest of the season. Montgomery, a UND commit who was playing for Sioux Falls U16, will play with Waterloo. Salquist, an uncommitted forward who was playing for Janesville in the North American Hockey League, will play for Fargo.

**** Two UND recruits-forward Shane Pinto and Moorhead defenseman Ethan Frisch-played in the USHL Top Prospects Game in Lincoln, Neb., on Tuesday night. Pinto, of the Lincoln Stars, played first-line center. Frisch, of the Green Bay Gamblers, played second-pair defense. Pinto, who is on an 11-game point streak in the USHL, scored a goal in the game.

**** Former UND forward Nick Schmaltz of the Arizona Coyotes is out for the season after suffering a knee injury. Schmaltz had 14 points in 17 games for the Coyotes after being traded from the Chicago Blackhawks.

**** UND commit Harrison Blaisdell has tallied hat tricks in back-to-back games for the Chilliwack Chiefs. The future Fighting Hawk has seven points in the last two games. He has 44 points in 33 games this season.
