Man sentenced for sexually assaulting young girl
ROSEAU, Minn.-- A Roseau man will spend two more months behind bars for sexually assaulting a young child.
Anthony Joseph Ray Garcia, 23, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal sexual conduct as part of a plea agreement that dropped a first-degree charge for sexual contact with a person under age 13. He has been in custody for four months and will have spent six months in jail in total.
Garcia will also spend 10 years on supervised probation.
An affidavit said he went into a girl's room while she slept and touched her inappropriately. The girl allegedly told police the assaults began when she was 6 years old and happened about 10 times.
The maximum punishment for second-degree criminal sexual conduct is 25 years in prison.
