MINNEAPOLIS -- The 20-year-old wife of a Minnesota Marine killed in Afghanistan says he had a passion for life and never took a day for granted.

Colleen Baune (BAU'-nee) says 21-year-old Cpl. Taylor J. Baune, of Andover, was on foot patrol Wednesday when his unit came upon an IED.

She says they were high school sweethearts. He joined the Marines shortly after graduating from Andover High School in 2009. They were living in San Diego.

Baune says they were engaged for just a couple months before they got married in March in Las Vegas, right before he deployed. She says he wanted to make sure that she was covered if anything happened.

Funeral arrangements are pending. She plans to fly to Dover Air Force Base Friday for the return of his body.
