Forty-two young artists and their families were recognized this past week at a dedication and reception in Grand Forks Town Square for being winners in a contest to design clay tiles that decorate the walls around the square.
Mayor Michael Brown spoke to the children and their families at the event sponsored by ArtWise on Wednesday. The 42 new tiles had been chosen to join about 250 tiles installed earlier.
About 250 designs were submitted for the latest round of the clay tile contest. Children were instructed to submit a line drawing of things they liked, said ArtWise Director Terry Swenson.
