WILLISTON, N.D. -- A Wyoming man was killed Wednesday morning when the pickup he was riding in hit a truck from behind and caught fire in Williams County, the North Dakota Highway Patrol reported.

Jeffrey Novotny, 29, of Riverton, Wyo., and driver Zackery Brown, of Conifer, Colo., were traveling east on Williams County Road 7B when Brown failed to stop at an intersection and hit a 2011 Mack truck driven by Prince Jackson, 32, of Williston.

The truck dragged Brown’s 2011 Dodge Ram pickup for a short distance before the pickup started on fire.

Jackson and other bystanders extinguished the fire, but Novotny died at the scene.
