WOMEN'S HOCKEY: Sioux late rally earns tie

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The UND women's hockey team ended a losing streak in the Western College Hockey Association on Friday. The Sioux also ended an even longer losing streak against St. Cloud State.

ST. CLOUD, Minn. - The UND women's hockey team ended a losing streak in the Western College Hockey Association on Friday. The Sioux also ended an even longer losing streak against St. Cloud State.

UND's Jodi Holland and Ashley Paulson scored third-period goals to earn a 3-3 tie against the Huskies.

UND snapped a three-game losing skid against WCHA opponents. It also beat the Huskies for the first time since Feb. 19, 2005.

The Sioux moved to 2-5-4, while the Huskies moved to 4-4-3.

Sammy Nixon scored twice to pace St. Cloud State, which outshot UND 31-29.

Casie Hanson also scored for UND.

Brittni Kuyper also scored for St. Cloud State, which led 2-1 after two periods.

Nixon's goal 56 seconds into the third period pushed the lead to 3-1.

But Holland scored on a feed from Hanson at 6:33, while Paulson scored at 10:45 for the final margin.

UND goalie Brittany Kirkham ended with 28 saves, while Huskies goalie Kendall Newell made 26 stops.
