FARGO, N.D. - A 23-year-old woman was taken to a local hospital early Sunday morning, after police say she fell off a fire escape in downtown Fargo.

Police were called to Roberts Alley behind the Bismarck Tavern, 522 Broadway N., at 1:48 a.m. Sunday on a report that a woman had fallen from the two-story building just to the south of the bar. Fargo Police Sgt. Mark Lykken said the woman was conscious and breathing when officers arrived.

A Sunday Facebook post by Tamara Bala Sedlacek, who identified herself as the woman’s aunt, said she had sustained serious injuries, with “two crushed feet and three breaks in her back.” A steel rod was put in her back Sunday, and it will be two weeks before her feet can be operated on, the post read, adding that the woman has a 2-month-old daughter.
