Woman charged with attempted murder in campground stabbing near Elbow Lake, Minn.

ELBOW LAKE, Minn. - A Maynard woman is charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend 13 times while they were camping Saturday on Pomme de Terre Lake near Elbow Lake.

ELBOW LAKE, Minn. - A Maynard woman is charged with attempted second-degree murder and first-degree assault after allegedly stabbing her boyfriend 13 times while they were camping Saturday on Pomme de Terre Lake near Elbow Lake.

Carly Ann Lacey, 31, was in custody Wednesday with bail set at $500,000 unconditional and $250,000 with conditions, according to information from Grant County Sheriff Dwight Walvatne and County Attorney Justin Anderson.

Lacey made her first court appearance Tuesday in District Court in Elbow Lake.

Her boyfriend, Keith Peterson, 36, of Maynard, was reported in stable condition at a Fargo hospital, where he underwent surgery. He was stabbed in the neck, back, arm and abdomen, according to the criminal complaint.

The two were camping at the Tipsinah Mounds Campground when the incident occurred just before 1 a.m. Saturday. According to the complaint, the two had been drinking heavily and got into an argument.

Other campers heard Peterson’s calls for help and came to his aid. Officers found Lacey in the woods and arrested her. Her blood-alcohol level was reported to be 0.264 percent, more than three times the limit for drunken driving.
