Charges are pending after a Grand Forks woman accidentally fired a shot into the apartment below her Tuesday, a press release from police said.
Haleigh Reese, 18, told police she mishandled a shotgun around 11:38 a.m. and discharged a round inside her apartment on the 800 block of University Avenue, the release said.
The round went through the apartment floor and went into an unoccupied space below, the release said. No one was injured.
The release said charges are pending against Reese for discharge of a firearm within city limits.
Police said it is important to check and unload firearms before handling.
