A Wisconsin woman was cited after the car she was driving hit floodwater over U.S. Highway 2 west of Devils Lake and ended in the ditch immersed in water.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said Martha Haas, 56, New Berlin, Wis., was eastbound in a 2004 Pontiac Grand Am at 7:39 a.m. Wednesday when she hit the water-covered roadway 1 mile east of Penn, N.D., which is about 15 miles northwest of Devils Lake on Highway 2.

She lost control and the car entered the median area, coming to rest, upright, "immersed in water," the Patrol reported.

Water just came over the roadway at the site in recent days and the speed limit was reduced to 25 mph.

Neither Haas, nor her passenger, Ronald Haas, 58, were injured.
