Hazardous travel conditions created by a strong low pressure system reached western North Dakota today and have left lots of snow in counties near the Montana border.
Six to 12 inches of snow have fallen or will fall in the extreme west by early Monday.
Weather spotters measured 11 inches of snow overnight in Beach, N.D., and 6 inches overnight in Bowman, according to the National Weather Service's local storm report out of its Bismarck forecast office.
As the storm progressed today, a winter storm warning and winter weather advisory through 1 a.m. Monday were reduced in scope to extreme northwest North Dakota; originally, the warning extended across extreme western North Dakota and the advisory east of that to include the cities of Minot and Dickinson. As much as 12 inches of snow is expected in the winter storm warning area.
In the Red River Valley, rain atop saturated soil has put the Grand Forks area in a flood watch and the Fargo-Wahpeton area in a flood warning from the National Weather Service. Some places in the southern valley were expected to experience minor flooding because of the rains the past week.

The Red River at Halstad, Minn., Grand Forks and Oslo is under a flood watch. By Monday morning, one to two inches of rain are possible, perhaps even more in isolated areas.
