An employee of the Win-E-Mac School District in northwestern Minnesota has been placed on administrative leave pending investigation of an incident that allegedly occurred within the past two weeks.
Kevin McKeever, principal at the district's elementary-secondary school in Erskine, Minn., said the action was taken "based on a complaint about the employee filed with the district."
Citing privacy protections in the Minnesota Data Practices Act, McKeever would not identify the employee, his or her job description, the nature of the complaint, when it was filed or by whom. He would not say whether a student was involved.
"An investigation is ongoing," he said. "When it is completed, appropriate action will be taken by the School Board. Because of data privacy (requirements), I can't say more than that."
Officers and members of the School Board did not return calls seeking comment. District Superintendent Dan Parent was away this week and unavailable, a spokeswoman said.

District parents apparently had received no notice or explanation of the incident as of late this week, though McKeever would not confirm that.
The school has a K-12 enrollment of about 460 students drawn from the communities of Winger, Erskine, McIntosh and Mentor.
