Williston man dies in pickup-semi collision

WILLISTON, N.D. -- The victim of a fatal crash between a semi and a pickup near Williston, N.D., Sunday has been identified as a 20-year-old Williston man.

WILLISTON, N.D. -- The victim of a fatal crash between a semi and a pickup near Williston, N.D., Sunday has been identified as a 20-year-old Williston man.North Dakota Highway Patrol said Taylor Dopson was driving a Chevrolet pickup northbound on U.S. Highway 85, about 4 miles south of Williston, at about 6:40 a.m.Sunday when the pickup crossed over the paved median into the southbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a semi-truck operated by Kyle Ness, 34, Florence, Mont.After the collision, the pickup then slid into the west ditch and started on fire, the Highway Patrol said.

The Kenworth semi came to rest disabled on the highway, blocking both directions of travel.

Dopson died as a result of injuries in the crash, the Highway Patrol said, while Ness was transported to a nearby hospital by helicopter.
