FERGUS FALLS, Minn. -- A Pelican Rapids, Minn., man is in the hospital after his four-wheeler was rear-ended by his wife's SUV on Saturday.
At about 6:20 p.m., the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office received a call that an accident had taken place. Jennifer Bergquist, 33, of Pelican Rapids, was following her husband, Gerald Bergquist, 35, home on 433rd Street, east of Pelican Rapids.
She was driving a Chevrolet Suburban, and he was driving a Polaris Sportsman four-wheeler.
According to the sheriff's office, Jennifer Bergquist was distracted by something on the side of the road for a moment, and when she looked back at the road, Gerald had slowed his vehicle down.
She slammed on the brakes but still ended up hitting the four-wheeler, throwing Gerald off of it and onto the hood of her vehicle.

When Gerald hit the SUV's hood, he broke the windshield with his head before rolling off into the ditch.
He was transported by ambulance to Lake Region Hospital. He could not remember the circumstances immediately preceding the crash.
He and his wife both reported that there were no problems between them.
