BISMARCK – A white supremacist who pleaded guilty to terrorizing and menacing residents in the small North Dakota town of Leith should learn by mid-June whether the state of Missouri will accept his probation transfer.
Craig Cobb was sentenced April 30 to four years of supervised probation for his crimes in Leith, where he had purchased a dozen properties and tried unsuccessfully to establish a whites-only community.
Cobb filed a request May 1 to relocate to Missouri through the interstate compact process. Missouri has 45 days to accept or reject his application, North Dakota Department of Corrections spokesman Tim Tausend said.
Cobb, 62, who is living in Bismarck, has said he wants to serve out his probation in Missouri so he can take care of his mother there.

Tausend said Cobb’s probation officer is investigating allegations that Cobb’s postings on the Internet may have violated the terms of his probation, which prohibit him from contacting his victims by any means, personal or electronic.
A probation violation could send Cobb back to jail to serve out the remainder of his suspended one-year jail sentence. He received 167 days of credit for time served from his Nov. 16 arrest until his release.
