Two incumbents were re-elected to the White Earth Reservation Tribal Council on Tuesday.

The reservation, located in northwestern Minnesota, includes all of Mahnomen County as well as parts of Becker and Clearwater counties.

Chairwoman Erma Vizenor received 1,126 votes, about 55 percent of the total votes cast.

District III Rep. Kenneth "Gus" Bevins picked up 559 votes, or 56 percent of the total, to serve again as District III committeeman, representing an area that includes White Earth, Pine Point, Callaway, Ogema and Elbow Lake.

Because they received more than 50 percent of the vote, Vizenor and Bevins were automatically re-elected to another four-year term and do not need to advance to the general election that was set for June 12.
