FARGO - Both lanes of westbound Interstate 94 lanes at Fargo's 45th Street South interchange will be closed Thursday night, the North Dakota Department of Transportation announced.
Currently, a single lane closure is in place on westbound I-94 between Interstate 29 and 45th Street. Westbound traffic is reduced to one lane in this area, which is likely to cause congestion during the rush hour.
NDDOT crews anticipate opening the lane around 7 p.m.
Crews are preparing the area for the delivery of cranes and beams, which will be used to widen the 45th Street bridge overnight Thursday. Each beam is 115 feet long and weighs close to 50 tons. It takes two cranes to lift and place each beam.
To prepare for the overnight closure, crews will start placing traffic control and restrict traffic to one lane around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. The closure should be up completely at approximately 8:30 p.m. and will last until approximately 6 a.m. Friday.
