Today and Friday bring some fair chances of precipitation in the form of showers and thunderstorms, particularly tonight and during day Friday.

If sunny weekends make you happy, though, the one ahead offers lots of promise.

While we may get wet today and tomorrow, the National Weather Service says the best chance of hazardous weather today and tonight will occur in southeastern North Dakota and adjacent portions of Minnesota.

Here's the National Weather Service forecast for Grand Forks:

Today: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, mainly after 1 p.m. Partly sunny, with a high near 83. Southwest wind between 8 and 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Tonight: Showers and thunderstorms likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. South southwest wind between 5 and 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday: A 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 76. Calm wind becoming northeast around 5 mph. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 56. North wind around 6 mph.

Saturday: Sunny, with a high near 77. North wind between 6 and 10 mph.

Saturday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 56.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 80.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 60.

Monday: A slight chance of showers and thunderstorms. Mostly sunny, with a high near 81.
