If you thought it can't last forever, you're right.
This stretch of 80-degree October days the northern Red River region is experiencing apparently will end Friday. Just not abruptly.
The National Weather Service says the forecast high is expected in Grand Forks to be only about 78.
OK, perhaps that's not really more like October.
But Saturday and Sunday's high temperatures are forecast to be chilly. Well, more chilly than the rest of this week. We're talking in the upper 60s.

Perhaps the parkas can stay parked in the closet a bit longer.
In fact, much of eastern North Dakota and western Minnesota are under a fire weather watch through Wednesday night. According to the National Weather Service, "Strong south winds and low humidity" along with unseasonably warm temperatures and dry air will contribute to create conditions favorable for fires to grow out of control. Outdoor burning isn't banned, but it's "not recommended" for Wednesday.
Fire danger shouldn't continue to be an issue later in the week, though, since there's a chance of showers Friday night and Saturday. Generally mild weather will continue to favor all kinds of outdoors endeavors this week, from typically fall activities such as harvest (excluding sugar beets) and fall yard work to more summer-like picnics and leisurely strolls.
