WAHPETON, N.D. - A Wahpeton man faces a charge of attempted murder following a head-on crash Sunday morning. He was arrested Friday
Charles Mikkelson, 70, was arrested Friday night near his home.
Lt. Bryan Niewind with the North Dakota Highway Patrol said a warrant was issued for Mikkelson's arrest by a Richland County District Court judge earlier in the day Friday.
The charge follow a crash that occurred just before 7 a.m. Sunday on Highway 127 south of Wahpeton.
Mikkelson was driving his 2008 GMC Sierra Pickup north when he crossed the center line, hitting a 2009 Ford Escape SUV.

The Escape was driven by 62-year-old Kathleen Lureen, also of Wahpeton.
Both vehicles spun, coming to rest in opposite directions as they had been traveling.
Niewind said Mikkelson and Lureen had a relationship prior to the incident. He declined to say what may have caused Mikkelson's alleged actions.
Mikkelson was treated and released for minor injuries at St. Francis Healthcare in Breckenridge, Minn.
Lureen was airlifted to Sanford Hospital in Fargo.
Sanford Health officials said Friday they could not comment on Lureen's condition.
At the time of the crash, both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and alcohol was not believed to be a factor.
Mikkelson is being held at the Richland County Jail on suspicion of attempted murder.
