A 23-year-old Wahpeton native is asking a superstar to do him a big favor. He's hoping she won't shake him off,  and wants her to be his date for the Air Force Academy's Ring Dance.

Reporter Bryn Nelson tells us how Cadet Brett Hagen is trying to get singer/songwriter Taylor Swift's attention.

With more than 120,000 views, you may have already seen Cadet Brett Hagen's parody music video to Taylor Swift's Shake It Off.

In the video, Hagen asks Taylor to be his date to the Ring Dance, a ceremony where all rising seniors in the Air Force Academy receive their class ring.

Cadet Brett Hagen, "What that represents is a milestone for all the achievements and hard work they've done to get to their senior year."

Hagen says he's a huge fan of the superstar and thought out of all the celebrities she'd be one of the few to answer him back.

Hagen, "Taylor Swift, she's one of the more classy celebrities. She's super funny. She puts a lot of humor in all her music."

Which is exactly what Hagen was going for in his video.

The video re-works lines from many of Swift's big hits like...

Hagen, "LOL you fill my blank space babe."

Hagen, "Doctor said I'm clear ain't pumping any bad blood."

With the hope that he'd get enough views for the singer/songwriter to see it.

Hagen, "I've heard some rumors, but I"m still waiting patiently and hoping the views keep going up."

Hagen says he's been writing lyrics for about five years, so that was the easy part.

Hagen, "I just sat down and just had fun with it and ideas started coming to my mind just from all of her songs and stuff because I've listened to it so much."

Most of the work went into production, which Hagen says he had a lot of help with.

Hagen says he hasn't heard anything from Swift quite yet, but he's hoping she will reply soon.

The dance isn't until May 27th of 2016 giving Taylor 10 months to reply.
