Members of Grand Forks' Bhutanese immigrant community plan a gathering Saturday in honor of those who died in last week's earthquake in Nepal.
Birkha Yakha of the Bhutanese Society of Grand Forks said 50 to 100 people would gather near Asian Grocery at 2550 S. Columbia Road to light candles and hold a moment of silence for the more than 5,000 people killed in the disaster.
Organizers will also collect donations Yakha said will be given to aid organizations working in Nepal.
Grand Forks' Bhutanese community consists mainly of ethnic Nepalese people who were expelled from neighboring Bhutan and relocated to the U.S. from refugee camps in Nepal.
