FARGO – A north Fargo man is alerting his neighbors after he says someone recently attacked his dog with acid.

Wade Lindgren said he doesn’t know why someone would want to harm his dog, but he doesn’t want it to happen to anyone else’s pet. Lindgren’s Jack Russell terrier suffered severe chemical burns.

Lindgren believes someone threw a chemical on his dog, Vegas, through a gap in his backyard fence.

The 6-year-old Jack Russell terrier is recovering since the attack.

Lindgren was at his north Fargo home just over a week ago when Vegas ran inside with a thick, yellow liquid on his fur.

“It smelled like a chlorine base. I thought it was bleach right away,” said Lindgren, who did his best to wash the chemical off and brought Vegas to the vet.

Vegas suffered severe burns from the mystery chemical.

Lindgren has no clue who did it – or why. He admits Vegas barks at the neighbor kids playing in the alley from time to time.

“If he’s bothering or barking at somebody, I would wish somebody would complain and not obviously harm him,” he said. “But I’ve never had any complaints.”

He is installing security cameras outside his house, hoping to at least deter something like this from happening again.
