At 5:46 a.m., Grand Forks police were called to 415 N. 51st St. for a dead body that was found on the lawn near the sidewalk. The body was identified as being a male, likely in his early 20s, according to Sgt. B.A. Johnson.
Two witnesses who arrived on the scene shortly after police said that potted plants and other items in front of the residence, an REM North Dakota group home, had been turned over and were spread across the lawn.
The witnesses, who did not want to be identified, said the body was barefoot and there were two socks on the lawn in front of the residence.
They said they did not see visible blood on the body or at the scene.
The witnesses reported one man had been detained in the back of the police car, and he was yelling and screaming.
