A beaver was spotted wandering the Columbia Mall parking lot Tuesday morning in Grand Forks.
Reader Sarah Barnard of Grand Forks caught a picture and a brief video of the animal waddling through a puddle in the JC Penney parking lot, she said.
According to the Minnesota DNR, beavers are the largest North American rodent and are extremely well-adapted to aquatic environments, although the DNR's website doesn't explicitly state whether a parking lot puddle counts as "aquatic."
Other animals not generally associated with urban life that have been spotted in town in the past include this coyote , which kept moving as it jogged through another parking lot in town, and a bear, which was shot near the Grand Cities Mall in 2014.
