- Grand Forks Schroeder Middle School Veterans Day Program, "Understanding Veterans Day and Appreciating Veterans," is set for 2 p.m. today in the Schroeder gym. The program will feature music, presentations by veterans, a slide show, sing-a-long and more, and is open to the public, especially veterans and their families.

Tuesday

- East Grand Forks Veterans Day observance, 11 a.m., Tuesday, East Grand Forks Veterans Memorial (across from Campbell Library). The event is sponsored by the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars of East Grand Forks. In case of bad weather, it will be moved to the VFW Club.

- Grand Forks Veterans Day observance, 11 a.m. Tuesday, in front of Grand Forks County Courthouse. Roy Fillion will be master of ceremonies, with Tom Saddler giving the invocation and Disabled American Veterans National Judge Advocate Mike Dobmeier as speaker. DAV is sponsoring the event. The DAV Auxiliary No. 2 will serve lunch immediately after the service on the sixth floor of the Grand Forks County Office Building.

- Crookston Veterans Day observance will begin at 7:55 a.m. with a call to colors at the flag pole on the University of Minnesota-Crookston campus mall. The Grand Forks ROTC will raise the flag and place a wreath at the Soldiers and Sailors Memorial, followed by a gathering for refreshments in Kiehle Room 116. A program at 9 a.m. in Kiehle Auditorium will feature an official folding of the flag and a look at the history of Veterans Day. Alvin Killough, a Vietnam veteran who teaches at UMC, will speak about post-traumatic stress disorder. All veterans and their families will be recognized. At 11 a.m., the Crookston Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion, Veterans Council and Disabled American Veterans will present a ceremony and program at the Veterans Memorial along Highway 2, located on the eastern edge of the city. A free lunch for veterans will follow in the Crookston VFW from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. The American Legion will host a free dinner for veterans from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Wednesday

- Riverside Christian School Veterans Day Chapel Program, East Grand Forks, beginning at 8:45 a.m. Wednesday. Lt. Col. Kevin J. Yandura, Grand Forks Air Force Base, will be guest speaker. Veterans and others associated with the military are welcome and will be honored. Call (218) 773-1770 for more information.
