WILLISTON, N.D. -- Williston police say an Oregon man was struck and killed on Monday while crossing a street near Walmart off U.S. Highway 2 in Williston.
Anthony Elich, 56, of Milwaukie, Ore., was hit by a 2009 Chevrolet driven by Jared Oas, 33, of Williston on 42nd Street West at 7:25 p.m., Sgt. Randy Haugenoe said.
Elich was transported to Mercy Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.
Oas was not injured.

Haugenoe said there were no streetlights where the incident occurred. A light rain was falling at the time.
He could not say if alcohol or the driver’s speed was a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
