A Fergus Falls, Minn., man was taken into custody in Grand Forks Thursday night after reportedly brandishing a handgun and threatening people.
Police responded to a call at 7:30 p.m. when John Franklin, 30, was in an apartment at 1850 South 34th Street, armed, agitated and threatening to hurt several people. The people Franklin was threatening were not present, according to police.
The Grand Forks Regional SWAT and Negotiations Teams responded along with police.
Once police contacted Franklin, he turned himself in and was arrested based on a warrant for violating probation out of Minnesota, police said.
Franklin had been convicted on a charge of DWI in Minnesota in 2007, a first-degree felony.
