Former Grand Forks Central football player Ryan Chappell rushed for a school-record 306 yards on 28 carries to lead UND to a 35-28 victory against Central Washington in the Potato Bowl on Saturday in the Alerus Center.
UND improved to 3-0 overall. Central Washington dropped to 1-1.
"Central Washington was very talented, and give them a lot of credit," Sioux coach Dale Lennon said in a postgame radio interview.
UND led 14-0 early, but it had to hold off Central Washington.
