A UND freshman accused of breaking into vehicles on campus has reached a plea agreement that calls for him to serve six months with the North Dakota Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation.
Joseph Sontoya, 19, is set to be sentenced Aug. 11.
Sontoya, a criminal justice major, was charged with theft of property, possession of drug paraphernalia and 11 counts of breaking into vehicles.
Under the plea agreement, Sontoya would have three felony convictions on his record, and the other counts would be wiped from his record if he stays out of trouble for three years, prosecutor Thomas Falck said Thursday.
Investigators said they found 20 GPS devices in Sontoya's dorm room on March 11. An investigator's report said Sontoya told authorities the devices were taken from vehicles.

In addition to GPS units, officers found four electronic music players, two radar detectors, two purses, two cellular phones, a digital camera and a tool for punching out windows, court documents show.
