UND President Robert Kelley has started a search committee for a new vice president for university and public affairs.

It will be chaired by Dr. Joshua Wynne, the university's vice president for health affairs and dean of the School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Other members include: Melissa Gjellstad, a professor from the Department of Languages; Brandi Jewett, a student and editor of the Dakota Student; Peter Johnson, the executive associate vice president for university relations; Sarah Kotelnicki, director of alumni relations at the UND Alumni Association; Cynthia Lindquist, an alumna and president of Cankdeska Cikana Community College; Michael Moore, associate vice president in the Division of Research and Economic Development; Timothy Pasch, a professor in the Department of English; Roger Reierson, president and chairman of Flint Communications; Mac Schneider, an alumnus, attorney and state senator.

The vice president for university and public affairs will oversee internal and external communication and governmental affairs and enhance UND's presence and reputation across all key constituencies.

The committee's is scheduled to hold an initial organizational meeting October 31. Wynne said he hopes the committee will have a short list of candidates for Kelley by the end of February. The new vice president will start his or her duties by July.
