A UND professor, a Fargo optometrist and a North Dakota State University graduate student have joined the State Board of Higher Education, the state university system said Thursday.
Eric Murphy, a professor of basic sciences at UND, will serve as faculty adviser. He was selected by the Council of College Faculties and is a nonvoting member whose term ends June 30, 2015.
Besides his faculty position, he is also editor-in-chief of Lipids, a journal of the American Oil Chemists’ Society and chief scientific officer at Agragen, a biotech firm.
Kevin Melicher, NDSU Athletics’ team optometrist and an optometrist at Eyecare Associates, will be a voting member of the board. He was appointed by the governor to replace former board member Duaine Espegard, a former state senator from Grand Forks. Melicher’s term will end June 30, 2018.
