The UND Nickname and Logo Taskforce has decided to hold several community forums in upcoming weeks.
At a meeting Tuesday, the group scheduled in-person community meetings for Nov. 5, 6, and 7.

The Nov. 5 meeting will be aimed at student athletes and members of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. It will be held at 8 p.m.
The exact times for the Nov. 6 and 7 meetings have not been set yet, but the forums will be aimed at other stakeholders, such as alumni, faculty and staff.
The locations for all of the meetings haven’t been decided upon yet.
Invitations will be sent to 180 people for each of the Nov. 5 and 6 meetings, but the forums will be open to the public as well. The invited attendees will be asked for their input on developing the process of what the plan to pick a new logo and nickname should look like.
Members of the public attending of their own accord will have a chance to submit input as well, though one of the group’s two mediators, Marie Miyashiro, cautioned the task force to separate input from desired stakeholders from that of other members of the public.
The largest group of invited attendees will be UND staff and faculty, followed by alumni, fans and “boosters.”
The task force plans to reach out to groups on campus and find out the best way to invite those with a vested interest in the nickname choosing process.
“We just want to make sure we allow as many people as possible to offer their input,” co-chairwoman and UND alumna Sheri Kleinsasser Stockmoe said.

The task force won’t be picking a nickname, but will try to establish a process the school will use to choose a new one after the NCAA deemed the controversial Fighting Sioux image offensive and it was retired in 2012.
