Brett Harris has been hired as UND's ombuds, a gender neutral term to describe a dispute mediator.
Harris will start July 1 and report to Provost Thomas DiLorenzo. She will make $75,000 annually, UND spokesman Peter Johnson said in an email.
Harris comes to North Dakota from Idaho where she worked at a private practice as a mediator as well as for Idaho's Seventh Judicial District Court. She received her Juris Doctorate from the University of Idaho College of Law.
The school's former part-time ombuds made $47,500 for working 20 hours a week and the job description posted in late 2014 for the full time position Harris will fill advertised the job's salary at $50,000.
