GLENWOOD, Minn. -- A UND associate director was arrested last month after he allegedly tried meet a prostitute at a Glenwood hotel.

Randall Scott Bohlman, 59, was charged with engaging in prostitution in a public place, a gross misdemeanor that carries no more than one year in prison and a $3,000 fine. He had a hearing scheduled Tuesday in Pope County Court.

Court documents state Bohlman, UND’s associate director of sustainability, responded to a Backpage or Craigslist online advertisement posted by an undercover Pope County Sheriff’s deputy on Aug. 20. He agreed to meet later that night at a hotel in Glenwood, which is about 15 miles south of where he was staying in Alexandria, Minn.

According to the criminal complaint filed in the case, Bohlman was arrested after he arrived at the hotel with alcohol, a box of condoms and almost $500 in cash. He allegedly admitted to police that his cellphone number was the same one that responded to the online ad.

Bohlman, who lives in Thompson, N.D., is on paid administrative leave pending an investigation, according to UND spokesman Peter Johnson. Bohlman did not return a message seeking comment Tuesday afternoon.
