A U.S. military fighter jet and a small plane collided over South Carolina, the Federal Aviation Administration said on Tuesday.
The collision involved an F-16 fighter aircraft and a Cessna C-150, the FAA said in a statement. It occurred about 11 miles north of Charleston.
The agency said the crash occurred about 11 a.m. No additional information was immediately released.
The pilot of the F-16 ejected, local officials told WCSC television, which reported that a search was underway. Authorities were also looking in nearby water for the pilot of the Cessna, the station reported.
