Two rural bars failed alcohol compliance checks last Thursday, according to a release from the Grand Forks County Sheriff's Office.
The Hangar Bar in Emerado, N.D., and The Hut Bar in Northwood, N.D., both sold alcohol to underage volunteers, even after seeing their real identification cards.
Selling alcohol to a minor is punishable by a year in prison, a fine of as much as $2,000 or both. Usually, offenders are fined several hundred dollars, the release said.
Thirteen other Grand Forks County businesses passed the compliance checks.
