BLOOMER, Wis. -- Two northwest Wisconsin men died Thursday after falling into a manure pit at a family farm near Eau Claire..

Rescue workers pulled Jeremy Seible and Rodney Seible of Bloomer from the tank, but efforts to revive them were unsuccessful, according to the sheriff's office in Chippewa County.

The accident, which occurred in the town of Woodmohr, south of Bloomer, was reported at 5:17 p.m. Thursday.

According to the sheriff’s office, deputies who arrived on the scene learned the two men were trying to retrieve a piece of equipment that fell into the manure pit. The men were overcome by the manure gas and became unresponsive.
