Two members of the Grand Forks Air Force Base School Board have resigned, Superintendent Larry Nybladh said Tuesday.
During a Tuesday meeting, the board voted to accept the resignations of Vice President Patricia Castilleja effective Dec. 23 and member Jennifer Peavey effective Jan. 31.
Nybladh said both are being transferred to another base, a common incident in recent years because there's been "fairly significant turnover" of board members.
"I know we are anticipating losing another two of our current members," he said. "Most likely as of July 1, only one of the existing five members will still be with us on the School Board."
District officials are accepting applications through Jan. 11 from those interested in replacing Castilleja and Peavey. To be considered for appointment to the board, applicants must be over 18, a resident of the Grand Forks Air Force Base school district and a U.S. citizen.

The board will select the newest members at its Jan. 18 regular meeting. Both replacements would start Feb. 1; Castilleja's term ends June 30, 2013, and Peavey's term ends June 30, 2012.
Applications are available at the offices of the Carl Ben Eielson Elementary School and Nathan F. Twining Elementary and Middle School, as well as from the school liaison at the Airman and Family Readiness Center.
